Atomic Wall Clocks - Modern Designs For Your Home Or Office

Atomic Wall Clocks

Never are we without the correct time or date when we are within the useful range of the atomic clock.  An atomic wall clock is the most accurate clock on the planet.  There are three located on the globe, one in the United States and two located in Europe.  And because of the precise nature of the clocks, they are perfect for establishing an exact time for governments and governing bodies. Three kinds of atomic clocks exist; all using a different element to keep time accurately.  The Cesium clock, the Rubidium clock and the Hydrogen clock each have uses that are perfect for the element used and it's benefits.

The atomic clock gains it name from its use of atoms within its mechanics.  Developments within the technology community involving microwaves during the 1930's and 1940's paved the way for the invention of the atomic clock in 1949.   Many of those who worked to create the atomic wall clock won Nobel Prizes for their research and developmental work.

The aspect that makes the atomic clock a superior source for keeping track of time is that the quartz oscillator is continually renewing itself and therefore always stays at a constant speed, never slowing down or speeding up.  A standard quartz clock has it's oscillator set during manufacturing and it is never adjusted again and therefore causes a clock or watch to be slow or fast over time.  The essential parts of the atomic wall clock are a cavity that contains ionized microwaves, a microwave radio oscillator that is tunable and a feedback loop which is needed to keep the clock at the precise time by continually checking itself.

The benefits of using an atomic clock are endless in our technology ridden society.  Everything that is linked to a global positioning system is connected to the atomic wall clock.  All MP3 players, cell phones, and the magic of the Internet is all made possible in some part because of the invention of the atomic clock.  The accuracy of the clock allows every one's cell phone to read the same time, and allows the Internet to be synced for every user around the globe.  It even makes space probes possible because of the accuracy that it displays.
